KSHITIZ-2010
"Vision beyond Horizon"

With the advent of new session the Faculty of Engineering & Technology spectated a flow among the students, a flow of technology, ideas, awareness and expressions. Confused??? We are talking about KSHITIZ-2010. Really an excellent idea cropped up in the minds of a group of students from 3rd year, when executed turned out to be a successful story. KSHITIZ-2010, held on Aug 27-28, 2010 in the faculty premises, would not have seen the light of the day without the nurturing and guidance of Mr. Vipul Sharma, the event co-ordinator. The organising committee and the students are thankful to Mr. Vipul Sharma for his constant support and creating an apt atmosphere in the premises. KSHITIZ-2010 focused on giving a platform to the students to show their talent and prove their mettle. It witnessed the whole hearted participation from the students. Be it technology or communication skills or the analytical or logical way of thinking, the event had it all. There were five events namely,
  1.   Extempore :       “Express Yourself”
  2.  Spellathon :        “A Vocabulary Quiz”
  3.  Mind Musing :   “An Aptitude Quiz”
  4.  Q-Nigma :            “A G.K. Quiz”
  5.  TechWIZ :            “A Technical Quiz”
Extempore, a two round event recorded a large participation of a hundred and five. Nine participants were selected for the final round after undergoing a written and group-discussion test in preliminary round. The final round participants had to express themselves on any random topic given to them on the spot. The participants were judged by a panel of three members including Mr. Vipul Sharma. Dr. Sunil Panwar and Mr. Vikas Deshwal. The end of event brought to light some eloquent speakers namely, Pushp Ranjan (CSE, 1st year), Raghav Arora (CSE, 2nd year) and Madhur Sareen (EE, 1st year) who bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Spellathon, indeed a vocab-marathon was an exciting event. Hundred and twenty four students appeared in the first round which was an objective Q/A round. Ten candidates were selected and grouped in a team of two at random and put to a vocab-quiz which included rapid fire questions, spellations, etc. First position was secured by the team of K.Deepak (ECE, 3rd year) and Raghav Arora(CSE, 2nd year) followed by the teams of Harsh Chaubey (ECE, 3rd year) and Mayank Kumar (CSE, 1st year) at second position and Aditya Pant (ECE, 2nd year) and Gagan Umrao (ME, 1st year) at third position.

Recording the maximum number of participants one hundred and sixty in number, Mind Musing really mused and tickled the minds of participants. A set of twenty nine interesting and brain teasing questions puzzled the participants. The aptitude test, an integrated part of placement papers of every company, gave an opportunity to the participants to pamper themselves for the upcoming years. Gagan Umrao (ME,1st year) topped the test with Madhur Sareen (EE, 1st  year) on second spot while Anuj Mayank (ECE, 2nd  year) and Ayush Zutshi (ECE, 1st  year)  shared the third spot.

Q-Nigma, a general awareness quiz was a show event split into two rounds. In the prelims seventy five teams participated ,out of which five teams made it to the second round which comprised of audio-visuals,rapid fire,  buzzer and direct question rounds. The duo of Abhishek Anand (CSE,3rd  year) and Avinash Kr. Mantu (CSE,3rd  year) emerged out to be the winners. Naman Kr. Srivastava (ME,2nd  year) and Vivek Kr. Singh(ME,2nd  year) stood second while Vinay Kr. Sharma(ECE,1st year) and Avinash Gaurav(ECE,1st  year) managed to get the third spot.

TechWIZ- Unleashing the technocrat in the students, this event gave them a chance to show the real engineer within them. And truly the students came up with flying colours. Shashank Shekhar (ECE, 1st year) was the winner with Akshay Mathur (CSE, 1st year) and Vineet Kr. Singh (ECE, 3rd year) as first and second Runner-up’s.

The winners in each event were awarded with a certificate of merit along with a 4 GB HP pen drive. The participants at second and third positions were awarded certificate of merit as well.

The credit of successful completion of KSHITIZ-2010 goes to the organising committee which includes
  1.                                      Piyush Prakash                   (3rd Year, ECE)
                                       Raghvendra Dixit               (3rd Year, ECE)
                                      Narendra Singh                   (3rd Year, ECE)
Gyanendra Singh Hada      (3rd Year, ECE)
                                      Ravish Arora                        (3rd Year, CSE)
Kuldeep Singh Rathore      (3rd Year, CSE)
                                      Prerak Khandelwal             (3rd Year, CSE)
                     Sumeet                                 (3rd Year, EE)

The team members toiled day and night making arrangements, publicising the event, creating awareness among the first year, preparing questions, correcting them, managing everything and turned their hard work into one of the memorable events in Faculty’s history. The organising committee convey their gratitude to honourable Dean Sir and respected faculty members for their valuable co-operation. The organising committee promises similar and many new events to the students.
